Hospitality Hub Serves

Hospitality Hub Serve helps people without hospitality experience find jobs through short, hands-on training.

Aim

The hospitality industry is facing a major staff shortage. At the same time, many people are on the sidelines: jobseekers, lateral entrants, young people and (early) retirees. The Hospitality Hub Serve project aims to enthuse these groups about a job in the hospitality industry in an accessible way.

Inspired by the successful Flemish project De Kust Serveert, Hospitality Hub Schouwen-Duiveland is betting on a short, practical training course for the hospitality sector. The aim of this course is to increase the influx of new talent and support entrepreneurs in finding suitable staff. Close cooperation between entrepreneurs, education and government creates a strong network that not only trains, but actually offers participants job prospects.

This project contributes to a future-proof hospitality sector and strengthens the industry's image as hospitable and innovative. If successful, the concept will be scaled up to the provincial level.

Target group

Young people, lateral entrants, jobseekers, career switchers and (early) retirees.

Collaboration

Within this project, Hospitality Hub Schouwen-Duiveland is collaborating with Scalda Next, which acts as the implementing party for the training courses and provides a practical and accessible education. There is also a collaboration with UWV / Aan de slag in Zeeland, who play an important role in both the implementation and campaigning of the project. Together, these partners contribute to reaching, guiding and placing new entrants into the sector.

Result

The project will deliver a pilot programme with short training, practical classes and a networking event. The training will consist of modules for serving, bartending and kitchen work, tailored to the practical and business needs.

The ambition is to recruit at least 50 participants, 30 of whom will obtain certification and move into jobs. A strong campaign and visible certification are also being worked on. This will not only increase the inflow but also the appeal of the sector. The concept is widely applicable and can be rolled out provincially if successful.
