Introduction
Innovative learning solution with gamified modules to retain hospitality staff and strengthen professional knowledge.
Target
The hospitality industry is facing a staff shortage and an annual turnover rate of more than 50 per cent. This causes loss of knowledge and makes it difficult to ensure quality. At the same time, traditional education does not connect well with the new generation (Gen Z), which prefers to learn through digital, interactive and hands-on methods.
CuliQuiz Proeftuin Horeca aims to address these challenges with an innovative approach. The project is developing 15 new thematic modules that translate complex hospitality knowledge into accessible, gamified learning experiences. These modules will be tested at six diverse hospitality businesses in Utrecht, ranging from fine dining to sustainable concepts.
The aim is to create a proven and scalable model: the CuliQuiz Blueprint Hospitality Sector. This model can be rolled out nationwide and will help companies retain staff, secure professional knowledge and improve the image of the hospitality industry. Introducing a modern learning culture will make the sector more attractive to new generations and create a sustainable solution to training and retention issues.
Target
Hospitality professionals in training and at the start of their careers, workers in the hospitality industry, hospitality entrepreneurs, industry organisations and educational institutions (vmbo, mbo, hbo).
Result
The project will deliver 15 interactive modules, including a badge system and certification. In addition, a standardised implementation model is being developed: the CuliQuiz Blueprint Hospitality Industry. This manual and content will be made available free of charge so that the whole sector can benefit.
Besides digital learning solutions, the project will organise 25 live quiz events at hospitality colleges and launch a nationwide campaign to improve the image of the hospitality industry. It is also training 50 education professionals in the CuliQuiz methodology.
The result is a sustainable learning structure that can be easily scaled up to other regions and companies. Thus, the project contributes to higher employee satisfaction, better knowledge retention and a more attractive hospitality sector.
