World Skills NL

Introduction

Encourage craftsmanship among young people through participation in World Skills trade competitions.

Target

World Skills NL is committed to promoting craftsmanship and vocational education by organising vocational competitions. These competitions start regionally and end in a national final at a major event. Young people from vmbo and mbo participate and get the chance to show their talents.
There are specific competitions for the catering sector.

The aim is to get young people excited about hospitality professions and promote inflow into vocational education and the sector. This is important to make craftsmanship in the hospitality industry visible and attract new talents.

Target

Young people (vmbo and mbo) participating in vocational competitions and orientating on a career in hospitality.

Result

The project provides an integrated plan for participation in World Skills NL and preparation for the 2027 event.

Participation in World Skills NL gives the hospitality industry a prominent place on a major platform for vocational education. This enhances the sector's image and encourages young people to choose a hospitality profession. The result is more intake in education and ultimately in the hospitality industry.
